Announcement/Press Release - Pittsburgh Region

Collectable Records, the largest and fastest growing independently-owned reissue record label which features oldies and doo wop, has announced that it has selected Pittsburgh’s own “New” Holidays as featured artists for its “Priceless Collection” release of their latest album entitled “Why do fools fall in love”.

The release date for this album has been set for August 28, 2007 and marks the Collectable label debut for The Holidays. The album when released will be #COL8142 and available on its website @ oldies.com.

The CD offers a wide variety of tunes including renditions of The Exciters “Tell Him”, The Holidays original “Miss You”, a mesmerizing version of  “I Believe”, a rockin’ dance tune called “The Bop”  and a great slow-fast version of  Frankie Lymon’s “Why Do Fools Fall In Love”

The only other local group to recently have the distinction of being featured by Collectable Records for national distribution has been the Skyliners in 2006. The Holidays are certainly proud to be in their company.

The Holidays enjoyed regional and national notoriety in the early 1960”s, recording and performing hit songs such as “Then I’ll Be Tired Of You”, “Lonely Summer”, “One Little Kiss”, “A Love I Never Had” written by Joe Rock and Jimmy Beaumont and “Miss You” which was their biggest hit and most requested song. The Holidays were invited to PBS/WQED TV to film “The Sound of Pittsburgh” and have remained a vital part of that sound to the present day.

The Holidays with three guys and a gal as frontline singers are backed by a group of (5) premier musicians who are second to none. In the words of Porky Chedwick, the ‘Daddio of the Radio’ and the King of Pittsburgh oldies, “The  Holidays replicate the original sounds of the past with freshness and vitality. Their vocal harmony is outstanding and they’re keeping the sound alive for the next generation to enjoy”.
